About the Artist:

Balachandra Prabhu hails from Hubli and is a student of the Kirana Gharana. A rising star at a young age of 22, till recently he was learning under the guidance of his Guru, (Late) Pandit Shripati Padegar, a senior disciple of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. His recent achievements include the All India Radio first prize for All India classical vocal competition, which makes him a Class B artist of AIR. His achievements also include the Thamankar Award, 2006 and the Pratibha Puraskar scholarship from the Karnataka Sangeeta Nritya Academy.
